Dudukhouse

Our Story

A house built around a single breath.

Dudukhouse exists to carry the duduk forward — to publish what's never been written down, to put real instruments in serious players' hands, and to bring this 2,000-year-old voice of Armenian heritage to stages and students everywhere.

WHY WE EXIST

The gap that started everything

For an instrument with two thousand years of history — one of the oldest woodwinds on earth — the duduk had almost nothing serious published about it in English. No proper method. No global library. If you lived outside Armenia and wanted to learn, you were on your own.

That gap is where Dudukhouse began.

PUBLISHING

Carrying a master's work into the world

Sar Kamlér, then a young Armenian musician in Toronto, was studying with Georgy Minasov — Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia and inventor of the extended-range duduk. Together, under the Minasov Books imprint, they brought Minasov's Armenian Duduk Method to the global market. Then six more titles followed. The duduk finally had its first complete academic library in international print.

THE STORE

A trustworthy place to begin

Buying a real duduk was its own problem. Most beginners ordered cheap souvenirs from Amazon or Etsy, struggled for a month, and quietly gave up. There was no specialized global reseller anywhere in the world.

In 2021, Dudukhouse was incorporated in Toronto to be the place serious players could trust. Today it's the largest retailer of Armenian duduks in the world.

HERITAGE IN PRINT

Rescuing what was almost lost

Beside the methods, the catalogue widened to the heritage itself. Foxbook — 200+ medieval Armenian fables in English for the first time. Sheram, the great ashough of Gyumri, his songs translated into English for the first time. The Big Book of Armenian Songs. Komitas Songs for Duduk and Piano. World firsts, mostly — works that would have quietly drifted out of reach without someone willing to set them down in print.

ON STAGE

Bringing the duduk to the stage

Since 2019, Dudukhouse has produced concerts that put the duduk in front of new audiences. Mystical Duduk in Toronto — sold out. Piano & Duduk: The Sound of Magic. With Ethnosonic, two more sold-out Toronto shows: Duduk, Jazz & Winter Nights (398 seats) and Sunset Serenade at Harmony Hall. Each one builds the same case in a different room — that this instrument belongs in concert halls everywhere.

FREE EDUCATION

Teaching anyone, anywhere

Not everyone buys a book or a ticket. So we teach for free. The Dudukhouse YouTube library has crossed 250 videos and keeps growing — tutorials, backing tracks, music videos, lessons. In English, in Armenian, for any kid in any country who hears the duduk somewhere and wants to know more.

OUR MISSION

Without roots, trees can't grow.

A publishing house. A store. A booking agent. A school. None on its own — all of them together, built around a single instrument and a single conviction.

The duduk is one of the deepest roots Armenian culture has. Dudukhouse exists so the tree keeps growing.

Mission

Preserve the roots

Every method, fable, and folk song we publish is a piece of Armenian musical heritage that almost wasn't written down. We work to make sure it is — in print, in English, and in the hands of players everywhere.

Practice

Carry the flame

A store, a stage, a school. We put real instruments into players' hands, real performances in front of new audiences, and free lessons within reach of anyone curious enough to look.
